Gunmen Kill 2, Others Injured While Watching UEFA Match In Yobe

Tragedy struck yesterday night at a football viewing centre in Potiskum town of Yobe when gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents stormed the place and shot dead a football fan, injuring several others.

According to Yobe Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Sanusi Rufai, the gunmen stormed the centre while the fans were watching a Champions League match between Manchester Utd and Bayern Munich, and started shooting.

He said, "The gunmen came in a car and opened fire outside the viewing centre and sped off. One person died on the spot while another died later at the hospital. Several other people were injured."

He said that the corpse of the deceased had been deposited at the General Hospital, Potiskum, while those who sustained injuries were receiving treatment at the hospital.

He added that security men had been mobilised to search for the attackers.
