Femi Fani-Kayode meets with President Jonathan, discusses religiuos politics

After today's meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Femi Fani-Kayode declared he would never agree with the All Progressives Congress' political agenda and asserted his support for the President.

Addressing the press after the closed-door meeting that lasted for about an hour, the famous Nigerian politician, lawyer and former Aviation Minister said he realized President Jonathan is a responsible leader.

"This is a Presidential Villa, the President is a President of Nigeria, and every single person in this country ... is entitled to come here from time to time, when the doors are open to come and pay their respect to the wonderful people that are here. As a Nigerian, I have done that today and I am delighted to be here," he said.

Fani-Kayode also also said he would make his decision on whether to leave the All Progressives Congress for the Peoples Democratic Party known to Nigerians when the time comes.

He added he would never agree to the APC's alleged plans to field two Muslims as presidential candidate and running mate for the 2015 general elections.

"The most important thing ... is that I cannot and I will not be associated with a situation whereby any group of people is promoting a religion above another.

"I think all of us have gone past the stage of  religious politics in this country. We must treat the Muslim community with utmost respect, and we must treat the Christian community in the same way and even the non-religious [persons]."

He declined to give further details of what he discussed with the President at the meeting.

However, Special Assistant to the President on New Media Reno Omokri has promptly congratulated Fani-Kayode on seemingly "making the right decision" via his Twitter handle:
