112 Buried After Gunmen Attacks Zamfara

Following yesterday's massacre by unknown gunmen in Yar Galadima village, Maru Local Government, Zamfara State, about 112 victims of the attack were buried on Sunday.

The gunmen who came on motorbikes stormed a security meeting vigilantes, opened fire on the people and killed over 200 people.

Meanwhile Zamfara Stathttp://www.legit.ng/myadmin/articles/center.php?action=edit&ArticleId=63885#e Governor, Abdulaziz Yari who broke down in tears after seeing corpses of women, children and other residents of the village littering every part of the village led a strong delegation of the state government to the burial rites.

The governor who was devastated over the incident vowed that those responsible for the massacre would be arrested and made to face the law while assuring the families of the victims that the state government would give them adequate support and compensation.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the police in Zamfara State, Lawal Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident said most of the victims were members of vigilante groups and local hunters who came for the meeting from Kaduna, Kebbi, Zamfara and Katsina States.

Mr. Abdullahi, however, said it was unfortunate that security agents were not informed of such a meeting, which he described as being delicate in nature.

“The police should have been informed, so that adequate measures could be taken for a security cover,” he said.
