We begin our count down from 10.

10. Electronic cigarette (E-Cigs)

You'll find many of the "big-boys" and "big girls" do their thing up in the clubs, in bars, lounges and pubs. For some, the good thing is that when you smoke e-cigs in public, it doesn't bring the negative reaction that trails the smoking of ordinary cigarettes in public spaces.

9. Cigarette

The popular cigarette is next. It has become so popular that the brands in Lagos have become too numerous to count, and you can be sure they are all in business. These days, even teenagers in Lagos indulge, of course they come very cheap, with a stick going for as low as 10naira, depending on the brand.

8. Cigar

Like most kids who grew up in Lagos watching yankee movies will say, "this one na for the boss". Like the E-cigs, this tobacco comes in classy fashion, tends to speak for itself once lighted.

You definitely won't find just lighted about the streets in Mushin and Oshodi; its mostly a fashion and style thing, more of an identifying mark when people "turn-up" for those classy events or exotic places.

7. Shisha/Sheesha

Here is another class definer, many Lagos babes prefer this brand of tobacco whose origin is traced to the Middle East and Asia specifically.

It is otherwise called hookah, narghile, waterpipe, or hubble bubble smoking. The mixture of fruit or molasses sugar, through a bowl and hose or tube is for some a path to bliss.

Many lounges around Lagos have their hookah spots, and you will be shocked as to how many people pay to kiss the pipes.

You are likely to meet a Nigerian star at a club having his or her pot and puff to ecstasy.

Mostly sold by the popular hausa traders in Lagos, known as the "Aboki". You'll find out that when you go to their kiosk, there is this stuff wrapped in white paper. Some its unrefined tobacco, like the cigarette, but Lagosians say its "Jedi".

In an interview with one resident who smokes it, the fellow said it has the potentials to cure diabetes; now you want to wonder what the logic behind that reasoning is.

5. Tabba/snuff

This is the normal snuff known locally as "Tabba". It is the most widely sniffed substance in Lagos, majorly taken by midlle-aged men and older women.

It is not the mammal known for its ability to spray liquid with strong odour, rather it is strong smelling cannabis, a hybrid of two species.

It was funny when one Bolaji who smokes skunk, told us it is a deeper spiritual too. A higherb level than the igbo. Bolaji went on to warn that if one's hair got into the mix and he smoked it, he would end up mad.

They say skunk originated in the United States of America.
