Defeat Boko Haram Before 2015 - Message From APC To CDS

The All Progressives Congress has asked the new Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh, and the service chiefs to defeat Boko Haram before the 2015 general elections.

The opposition party also urged them to liaise with other arms of the security agencies to improve the level of security across the country ahead of the 2015 elections.

It was informed in the statement issued in Port Harcourt on Tuesday by the Interim Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the party, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya. APC added that the APC was delighted over Badeh’s pledge to end the Boko Haram onslaught by April 2014.

The perty expressed the hope that such a promise was not made to ensure the speedy confirmation of their appointments by the Senate.

The statement reads in part,

“We are happy to note the earlier promise of the new Chief of Defence Staff to end the Boko Haram insurgency, latest by April this year. We wish to congratulate him and the new service chiefs for this feat. We, however, hope that this is not a political statement made to fast-forward their confirmation by the Senate because terrorism is a serious matter, which is not usually ended within the batting of an eyelid.”
