UEFA Named Messi Player Of The Year

UEFA has named Lionel Messi as the best player in Europe for the past season. The Argentine attacker led Barcelona to a historic second treble in the 2014/2015 season.

Messi was nominated alongside fellow Barcelona teammate, Luis Suarez and Real Madrid rival Lionel Messi.

[article_adwert] Earlier in the day, Messi's second goal in the semi-final against Bayern Munich was named best goal of the season while Marc Ter-Stegen's double save in the same match was awarded best save.

Meanwhile Célia Šašić a forward for FFC Frankfurt in Germany was named the female UEFA player of the year.

The 27 year old was nominated alongside 25 year old Olympique Lyon midfielder, Amandine Henry and 23 year old Frankfurt midfielder Dzsenifer Marozsán.

Earlier today, UEFA announced the groups of the 2015/2016 champions league season.
