EFCC Officials Were Walked Out From Senate

Senate committee at its sitting on August 26 to hear a petition against Ibrahim Lamorde, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over accusation that the commission fraudulently diverted over N1trillion proceeds of corruption returned by the anti-graft agency, walked out the representatives of the commission.

Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the chairman of the committee, demanded that the Chile Okoroma, director, legal of the EFCC, representative of Lamorde, Barrister Osuagwu Ugochukwu and other personnel of the anti-graft commission should leave the hall against the backdrop that having written to be given enough time, they ought not to have been present at the meeting.

Anyanwu’s order was in response to mad attempts Okoroma made to answer to the petitioner, George Uboh, who had supposed that Lamorde under-remitted the money he returned from some Nigerians as well as traded with the money.

Meanwhile, Lamorde shunned the invitation. Chairman of the Committee read a letter where the EFCC chairman appeal for enough time to answer to the issues raised by the petitioner.

But addressing journalists briefly after he was walked out together with others, Lamorde’s representative, Barrister Ugochukwu revealed that the EFCC chief asked him to represent him at the sitting, just as he expressed his disappointment on the Senate committee.

It should be also noted that PDP senators have distanced themselves from the attempt by the Senate committee to drag the EFCC chairman to the National Assembly for questioning when members resume from vacation.
