Police kill 1, arrest 4 suspected Boko Haram fighters in Bauchi.
Mr. Muhammed Ladan, the state commissioner of police, revealed this information to the press at his office on October 30, 2013, Wednesday.
According to the CP, the insurgents were arrested around 3 p.m. following a tip-off. One of the suspects was killed, while four others were captured during a gunfight between the police operatives and the hoodlums.
Mr. Ladan also informed that after the suspected insurgents were nabbed, the security agents recovered a cache of deadly arms in their vehicle. The weapons included 11 AK 47 rifles, 1,081 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, 12 loaded magazines, eight empty magazines and one fabricated rocket launcher with three live cartridges.
Moreover, four Nokia phone, four batteries for powering explosive devices with cables and a Toyota starlet car with registration number KAF 290 AA were recovered from the insurgents.
The CP has also spoken about other operation. The state police intercepted a Peugeot 505 station wagon with registration number A411 GAK from one Mustapha M. of Dutsen Tanshi area in the Bauchi metropolis on October 5, 2013, alongside his accomplice, Ali Mohammed, of Chibok LGA of Borno State. The officers recovered 20 brand new single-barrel guns, 2293 cartridges and 20 expended cartridges.
It would be added that scores of Boko Haram terrorists may have died in Borno State on October 30, 2013, as soldiers of the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army raided and destroyed two different camps of the insurgents.
According to military sources, the raid was carried out in the villages of Goho and Marguba near Mainok town of Kaga Local Government Area, and involved both land and air assaults. The mission was executed by the operatives of the 7 Division and the Nigeria Air Force.
