Nigerian Stars Dazzle In Europe

Nigerian stars have continued to dazzle for their teams as the 2015/2016 club football season gets set to roll in.

Legit.ng has put together a list of players who put up fine displays for their teams over the weekend.

Brown Ideye

Brown Ideye was on target for his side West Brom against League One side Walsall on Tuesday, July 28, in a friendly.

His goal took his tally in pre-season to three goals.

After a goalless first half, Berahino broke the deadlock from close range on 62 minutes before Ideye silenced the home fans with a nice goal seven minutes from time after an assist by James McClean.

The Nigeria international has been in fine form in pre - season, having also hit the back of the net against Charleston Battery and Richmond Kickers.

Lukman Haruna

Nigerian midfielder Lukman Haruna was on target for the Eagles in their home defeat to Lokomotiv Moscow in a league game on Monday evening.

Haruna scored his first goal for Anzhi Makhachkala in their 3-1 defeat to Lokomotiv Moscow in the Russian Premier League.

After Haruna had given the home side a first half lead, the visitors popped up to  level up four minutes later through Petar Skuletic as scores stood at 1-1 going into the half time break.

However, strikes from Maicon and Alan Kasaev in the second half condemned the hosts to an embarrassing home defeat which leave them in the 15th position after two winless games.

Kelechi Iheanacho

Nigeria’s Manchester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, was at his best in his team’s 8-1 pre-season defeat of Vietnam on Tuesday.

Although he wasn’t on the score sheet, he was instrumental to one of Raheem Sterling’s goals during the encounter.

Iheanacho, spotting jersey number 72 for Manchester City, contributed majorly to the team’s overall performance in the routing of the Asian team’s national side.

Anthony Ujah

Nigeria international Anthony Ujah continued his impressive run with German Bundesliga club Werder Bremen with his eighth goal of the pre-season in a 3-1 win over Spanish La Liga side Sevilla.

Ujah, who played the first 45 minutes of the game, scored Bremen’s second goal in the 32nd minute.

Ujah joined Werder Bremen from FC Cologne this summer.

Victor Moses

Super Eagles winger, Victor Moses equalized for Chelsea after Zlatan Ibrahimovic had put the PSG ahead early in the first half before the game was eventually decided by penalties.

The French champions had gone up via Zlatan Ibrahimovic who reacted first to stab in a goal past Asmir Begovic in the 25th minute after John Obi Mikel lost the ball on the edge of the box.

It wasn’t until the second half that Chelsea equaled scores when Moses combined with Cesc Fabregas to score in the 65th minute.

That goal meant a lot to Moses who broke into celebration with his trade mark somersault.

The Blues then won via penalties as substitute goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois saved a spot kick and scored his own to give the English champions something to enjoy, after losing their previous game 4-2 against New York Red Bull.

Meanwhile, Nigerians plying their trade in the top flight leagues are getting prepared to do their African roots proud.
