Opposing Jonathan’s Re-Election Out Of Ignorance - Samuel Ikon
According to the opinion of the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mr. Samuel Ikon, those who are opposing the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 are doing it out of ignorance.
He stressed that the actions of the aggrieved governors and their supporters bordered on mischief and total disregard to constituted authorities.
Ikon said the actions of those opposed to the President for his re-election bid were undemocratic.
He added that the incumbent President had a constitutional mandate to seek a re-election, as he had only contested and won the presidential election once.
The speaker criticized the actions of the governors and others for creating unnecessary tension in the country.
Ikon also mentioned there was nothing like the New Peoples Democratic Party and, warned those behind it to defect to another party rather than create confusion within the PDP.
He said: “I couldn’t believe that somebody would look at the sitting President who has the constitutional backing to seek a re-election, and you say he cannot contest, he doesn’t have the right to do so."
