The leader of South South Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, Sunday Ekanem, has threatened the All Progressive Congress (APC) that there would be crisis in the polity if the plan orchestrated to impeach President Goodluck Jonathan scales through.

Ekanem hinted that the entire Niger-Delta region would be a no go area for APC in 2015 general elections, adding that it was wrong to tie President Jonathan to the ongoing crisis in the National Assembly as well as use that as a crime that would warrant his impeachment from office.
“The police in Nigeria are an institution and when they discovered that there was a threat to public peace, they subjected every member of the National Assembly to scrutiny on that day not knowing that the Speaker came with his thugs that day to cause mayhem,” he said.
Ekanem who is also a member of PDP caucus group in Lagos State said Jonathan was the most abused president in the country despite his decision not to interfere with some key institutions in the country like Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Army, Police and others.

The PDP chieftain advised the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, to hunmbly resign his position as the Speaker of the House.
“In America where democracy works, opposition party cannot lead the House. Therefore, it is incumbent on the Speaker since he has joined the opposition party which remains a minority in the House to quit the position as Speaker,” Ekanem said.
The South South chairman further asserted that Nigeria would continue to have issues until is able to draw a line between politics and law.
It would be recalled that the lawmakers on the platform of the major opposition party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, were said not to be relenting in their pursuit to unseat President Goodluck Jonathan, as some of them were allegedly making frantic moves towards mobilizing their members and aggrieved Senators of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to ensure the purported impeachment plot against President Jonathan.
It was reported that the plot to impeach the President spread to the Senate, with a growing number of Senators said to be enthusiastic to team up with the Reps to get the President removed after 130 Reps signed to support the plot to remove Jonathan on Thursday, November 20, 2014.
However, lawmakers who are trying to achieve the impeachment of President Jonathan had initially identified 50 constitutional violations by the president, before the pro-impeachment Senators and Representatives on Monday, December 1, 2014 reportedly narrowed it down to 14 impeachable allegations against Mr. President.
Meanwhile, some members of the House of Representatives were said to have fixed next Wednesday to start impeachment proceedings against President Jonathan.
