Boko Haram Ambush Soldiers In Borno, Kill One
Despite the said ceasefire agreement between Boko Haram insurgents and the Federal Government, there is still tension the north eastern region, as a soldier was reportedly killed by the sect.
According to Premium Times, Nigerian troops were ambushed by the insurgents yesterday, October 21, 2014, on their way to Damboa in Borno state.
A top security personnel who confirmed the incident said: “Our troops were on their way to Damboa this morning when the insurgents ambushed them. We lost one soldier.”
This appears to be a reprisal attack as soldiers had killed no fewer than 25 of the sect members on Sunday night in Damboa during a fierce battle.
The troops had also recovered arms from the sect.
On Friday, October 15, Boko Haram and the Federal government reportedly reached an agreement to ceasefire.
But there have been various violations of the ceasefire agreement as not long after it was announced, the terrorists carried out a series of deadly attacks on a number of Nigerian villages.
The terrorist group were also said to have kidnapped no fewer than 40 women in a recent attack carried out in Wagga village, Adamawa State.
Meanwhile the president of the United States of America, Barrack Obama has warned all parties involved in the ceasefire agreement to implement it.
Damboa is 85 kilometers south-west of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital and the gateway to Sambisa forest where Boko Haram has its largest camp.
It was once controlled by the sect before it was recaptured by Nigerian security forces.
