American Woman Kidnapped & Killed During Vacation In Abia

This past weekend, a white woman, a citizen of the United States of American who married a native of Abia state was kidnapped and killed in Onicha Ngwa, Obingwa LGA of the state.

Following the incident, soldiers were said to have stormed the area, arrested some of those directly or indirectly involved in the abduction and death of the woman and set buildings believed to belong to the hoodlums and other criminals on fire.

Daily Sun gathered that the woman who came to Nigeria on vacation, was travelling in company with the children to see the husband’s relatives when on getting to a point in a community in Obingwa Local Government, the vehicle they were riding in was attacked by hoodlums who killed her driver and abducted her.

The kidnappers took the woman to their hideout from where they made a demand of N25 million ransom. Soldiers were alerted to the incident and traced the hideout of the criminals to Onicha Ngwa where they made some arrests including a woman simply identified as Ejima and her boyfriend. Ejima’s house was where the white lady was allegedly brought every evening, blind-folded after spending the day inside the bush.

When soldiers stormed the community, Ejima fled her home, leaving her children behind. The children reportedly confirmed that the kidnappers’ victim was always brought to their house at evenings and taken out in the morning hours.

Following the revelation, the manhunt for the fleeing Ejima was intensified, leading to the arrest of her boyfriend whose name could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report. A source told Daily Sun that Ejima’s boyfriend was with the soldiers, when she called from her hideout alerting him (boyfriend) to the danger ahead and that he should meet her somewhere so that together they could cross over to another country.

It was in the process of meeting with her boyfriend who she never knew was arrested that she too was arrested by soldiers and brought back to Aba. Ejima reportedly took the soldiers to their hideout where the white lady was said to have been kept, but before they could get to the place, their victim had died out of what was described as the trauma she went through in the hands of her captors.

Irked by the development, soldiers were said to have returned to the village, set Ejima’s house and those of other suspected kidnappers on fire as security had been beefed up in the community. A manhunt is said to be mounted for other fleeing members of the gang believed to be responsible for the pockets of kidnapping and child theft that are gradually becoming the vogue again in the commercial city and its environs.

Efforts made to reach the commander of 245 Battalion of the Nigeria Army, Asa and the Army Public Relations Officer (APRO), 14 Brigade failed, as they did not pick their calls.

However, an army officer who spoke under the cover of anonymity confirmed the incident but could not give further details.
