Eight Missing Policemen Found In Gwoza
The Police said on Tuesday that eight of its 35 personnel missing during an attack on the Police Mobile Force training camp at Gwoza, Borno, have been found.
The camp was reportedly attacked by the Boko Haram insurgents.
ACP Emmanuel Ojukwu, the Force Public Relations Officer, who confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, said the officers were found in the last two days.
Ojukwu expressed hope that more of the men would be found with the ongoing search and rescue efforts.
NAN recalls that the insurgents attacked the camp on Aug. 20, having attacked it earlier on Aug. 7, and was repelled by the personnel.
Following the incident, the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr Suleiman Abba, ordered that security be tightened in and around all police facilities across the country.

Latest news emanating from Abuja inform that the Nigerian Police authorities have announced that eight of its 35 personnel that were declared missing after an attack on the Police Mobile Force training camp at Gwoza, Borno, have been found.
The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that this disclosure was made on Tuesday, 26 August, 2014, by the Police Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Emmanuel Ojukwu.
Ojukwo informed newsmen that the eight officers were found in the last two days.
It would be recalled that the police training camp was reportedly attacked by the Boko Haram insurgents on 20 August, 2014 after the militants had attacked the camp earlier on 7 August and was repelled by the police personnel.
Commenting on the found policemen, Ojukwu expressed hope that more of the men would be found with the ongoing search and rescue efforts.
As a result of the incident, the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr Suleiman Abba, had ordered that security be tightened in and around all police facilities across the country.
After the attack in Gwoza, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Kenneth Minimah said that the Nigerian military would soon begin a massive attack on the Boko Haram insurgents in northeastern Nigeria.
Minimah made this known when he addressed troops of 2 Brigade Port Harcourt at a two-day visit to army formations and units in Rivers on Sunday, 24 August, 2014.
According to him, military hardware will soon arrive into the country in furtherance of the Federal Government resolve to end Boko Haram activities.
The Islamist sect is believed to have killed more than 10, 000 innocent souls since it intensified its terror attacks across Nigeria in 2009.
