PDP Warned Against Mass Defection In Sokoto
Alhaji Abdullahi Sarkin Gobir, on Monday, warned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), against impending mass defection of its members in Sokoto State.
Leadership reports that Sarkin Gobir, who is a descendant of Sultan Mohammadu Tambari and chieftain of the PDP, said the party needed to put its house together in order to avoid members defecting to the All Progressive Congress.

Sarkin Gobir further revealed that PDP was in dire need of redemption from the grip of Bafarawa and his cohorts.
He alleged that the self-centered nature of former governor Attahiru Bafarawa, who is now not just a member of the PDP in the state as he has also hijacked the party structure without recourse to the principle of equity, might cause the party grave consequences if such irregularity continued unchecked before 2015 general election.

“I respect Bafarawa but I don’t understand certain things about him. You cannot say only you can do everything. I started quarrelling with many people who left him. I am not even talking with some of them, but I have come to realise that his interest is final” he said.
Alhaji Abdullahi Sarkin Gobir was a member of the committee set up by former President Olusegun Obasanjo that met in Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, to work out modalities for the election of the present Sokoto governor, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko in 2007.
It would be recalled tha on July 17, the APC suffered a mass defection in Adamawa State following the impeachment of former Governor Murtala Nyako.
