Bayelsa Declares Three Days Of Mourning For Yakowa, Azazi, Others

The Bayelsa State Government has declared a three-day mourning period in honour and memory of the victims of Saturday’s crash of a Nigerian Navy helicopter in Okoroba, Nembe Local Government Area of the state.

The crash claimed the lives of Kaduna State Governor, Patrick Yakowa; former National Security Adviser, Gen. Owoye Azazi; their security aides and the helicopter’s pilots.

The three-day mourning period was announced by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Markson Fefegha, in a statement.

“Following this declaration, all formal government engagements in the State have been cancelled, and all flags are to be flown at half mast in all public places in the State.

“Meanwhile, condolence registers have been opened in Government House and the State Secretariat complex in Yenagoa.”
