The France international moved up to eight goals in five matches, surpassing Nigerian forward Osimhen, who has six goals in three matches but missed Galatasaray’s shock 1-0 home loss to Royal Union Saint-Gilloise. This is due to an injury he sustained on international duty with Nigeria.
In his absence on the Champions League stage, Mbappe made it four goals with another strike in the second half, but Madrid nearly threw away the lead, eventually settling for a 4-3 win over Olympiacos.
Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, who was tied on five goals with Mbappe before matchday nine, failed to score during the 3-1 loss to Arsenal.
According to UEFA, the former Monaco star now has five Champions League hat-tricks, behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo with eight and Robert Lewandowski with six.
Mbappe has also scored the second-fastest hat-trick in the competition, behind Mohamed Salah, who scored it a few seconds faster against Rangers in 2022.
Xabi Alonso praises Kylian Mbappe
Real Madrid head coach Dani Alonso was impressed with Kylian Mbappe’s contribution to help his team secure a narrow win over the Greek side.
Mbappe has scored 22 goals out of the 40 Madrid has scored this season, but Alonso believes he admires other factors in him, even more than his goals.
“It’s very important. Goals are the most fundamental thing, but his personality, leadership, and influence on a daily basis are intangible for building a team and creating connection and unity. Goals are his natural talent,” he said after the match as quoted by Sports Illustrated.

At 26, Mbappe is the French national team's captain, which agrees with Alonso's assessment that his personality and leadership are intangible.
Real Madrid will now turn its attention to the Spanish La Liga, where it will travel to face Girona on Sunday to hopefully extend their lead at the top of the table.
Madrid dropped points in the previous match against Elche, drawing 2-2 away from home, and allowing its fiercest rivals, Barcelona, to close the gap at the top of the table to one point.
