- Victor Osimhen put Galatasaray ahead in the UEFA Champions League matchday three tie against Bodo/Glimt
- Osimhen set a new club record for most consecutive European goals scored for Galatasaray with the goal
- The goal came hours after the Super Eagles forward was nominated for the African Best Award
Victor Osimhen opened the scoring for Galatasaray against Bodo/Glimt, setting a new club record for most consecutive European games scored in.
Osimhen received a pass from Mario Lemina and opened his body to pick a nice angle past the goalkeeper to put Galatasaray ahead in the third minute.

The goal is his fourth of the season for the club, his first since CAF announced him as one of the nominees for the 2025 Men’s Player of the Year Award.
Turkish winger Yunus Akgun added Galatasaray's third on the hour mark, before he and Osimhen were substituted in the 73rd minute, with the Nigerian on a hat-trick.
His two goals did not do justice to his performance as he produced a staggering seven shots on target, with an expected goal value (xG) of 2.91 on a record-breaking night.
Andreas Helmersen pulled one back for the visitors to end the game 3-1, and Galatasaray moved up to 11th on the 36-team UEFA Champions League table.
The win was also the first time since 2012 that Galatasaray has won consecutive Champions League matches, having not had a good run in the competition for many years.
Osimhen breaks Yilmaz's record
According to Complete Sport, Osimhen was on par with Burak Yilmaz after both had scored in six consecutive European games for Galatasaray, after his goal against Liverpool.
As noted by Squawka, the Nigerian forward has now scored in seven consecutive European games, dating back to last season’s Europa League group stage win over Tottenham, surpassing Yilmaz's record.
As noted by Transfermarkt, he has taken his tally for the season to five goals in eight games, as he gradually works his way to full fitness after a slow start.

Osimhen speaks after scoring a brace
“It was a very important match. I want to congratulate my teammates. The opponent pushed us in the second half. We got a very important win,” he said after the match.
“Thank you very much to everyone. I'm not breaking these records alone. We will continue to build on this momentum. Thanks to my teammates, I won the Man of the Match award in two matches; I haven't won it alone. I want other players to win it too.
“I want to help the team with my goals and assists, or if that doesn't work out, I want to help with my fighting. I'll be very happy if one of my teammates wins this award.”
Next up for Galatasaray is a league match against Göztepe at the Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex.
