Utah, United States - Charlie Kirk, an ally of the president of the United States (US) Donald Trump, died on Wednesday, September 10, after he was shot in the neck at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

As reported by CBS News, Kirk, a 31-year-old father of two, was shot as he was speaking to students at an event for Turning Point USA, an organisation for young conservatives he co-founded in 2012.

Charlie Kirk is dead

BBC reported the unfortunate incident.

Reacting, President Trump mourned his slain ally.

The US leader said, as shared via the White House's verified X (formerly Twitter) page:

"The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!"
