Michelle Alozie is one of the leading Super Falcons stars and arguably the most loved player on the female national team’s roster by Nigerian supporters.

The 28-year-old played a key role for Nigeria at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), helping the team clinch a record-extending 10th continental title.

Alozie scored a 94th-minute winner against South Africa in the semi-final and was also instrumental in the remarkable 3-2 comeback win against Morocco in the final, BBC News Pidgin reports.

The achievement was Alozie’s first international title for Nigeria since she made her debut for the Super Falcons in the SheBelieves Cup in 2021 in the United States of America, her country of birth.

In a recent chat with ESPN Africa, the Nigerian-American footballer disclosed that her favourite Nigerian dish is Ogbono soup, a popular delicacy known for its rich, thick texture and unique taste.

The Houston Dash player, who recently received a $100,000 cash prize from President Bola Ahmad Tinubu, said that despite living abroad for most of her life, she has always stayed connected to her Nigerian roots through food, and Ogbono soup is one she cannot live without.

Okoronkwo and Alozie contributed immensely as the Super Falcons of Nigeria beat Morocco 3-2 to win the 2025 Women's Africa Cup of Nations.
