Both mother and son were badly burned by the fire caused by the plane crash, but luckily, they made it out alive with injuries.

According to reports, the mother, Manisha, used her body to shield her baby and to protect him from the fire.

Manisha, who narrated the story to Times of India, their residence at the BJ Medical College was engulfed by fire.

She said:

"There was a blackout for a second and then our residence was filled with heat."

Manisha had grabbed her son and ran, but they still suffered serious burns that landed them in the hospital.

She said:

"There was a moment I thought we would not make it out. But I had to, for my child. We have both been through pain I cannot put into words."

Both mother and child were taken to the KD Hospital, where Dhyaansh was immediately admitted to the paediatric intensive care unit (PICU).

During the treatment process, Manisha's son needed skin for grafting, and she donated hers.

Dr Adit Desai, managing director of KD Hospital, said the story was deeply touching.

His words:

"It was deeply touching because of the mother's instinctive courage to save her child. From a medical standpoint, every department came together to ensure the best possible outcome."

Dr Rutvij Parikh, a plastic surgeon who took part in treating the mother and son, said the recovery of the patients has been satisfactory.

He said:

"The child's own skin and his mother’s skin grafts were used to treat the burn wounds. The patient’s age was a major factor. We had to make sure the wounds did not get infected and that his growth would be normal. The recovery of the child and mother has been satisfactory."
