Harvard University Scientist Set to Prove Existence of God Using New Mathematical Formula
- A scientist who specialises in astrophysics at Harvard University is set to unveil a mathematical formula to prove that God exists
- The Malaysian astrophysicist, Dr Willie Soon, said there is a possibility that God exists and noted that this could be proven using mathematics
- He said through his work and extensive calculations, the equation might hold the solution to bridging the divide between science and religion
A Harvard University scientist has argued strongly that there is a possibility that God exists.
The scientist, Dr Willie Soon, specialises in astrophysics and his assertion has the potential to revolutionize how scientists and religionists understand the universe.

Dr Soon is set to unveil his mathematical formula which he said hold some clues to prove the existence of some divine higher power.
Dr Soon's innovative hypothesis, which is based on cutting-edge mathematics challenges the boundaries between science and spirituality.
Through his extensive calculation and creative reasoning, the scientist argues that his work could bridge the age-long gap between science and religion.
Dr Soon's work is based on what is called the "fine-tuning argument."
The "fine-tuning argument" states that the universe did not just happen by chance, suggesting that there must be a higher power since everything is so precise.
According to this argument, the fundamental things in the universe such as the laws of physics are remarkably precise to allow for the existence of life.
This precision, according to the argument, suggests that the arrangement of the universe did not happen by chance.

The fine-tuning argument supports the idea that the universe seems to have been precisely tuned to support the existence of life, suggesting there is a higher power that had everything arranged.
Dr Soon said:
"There are so many examples of the ever-present forces that allow us to illuminate our lives. God has given us this light, to follow the light and do the best that we can.
According to CNBC's TV18, Dr Soon's work drew inspiration from the work of celebrated physicist, Paul Dirac in 1963 who called God a mathematician.
CNBC quoted him as saying in 1963:
"It seems to be one of the fundamental features of nature that fundamental physical laws are described in terms of a mathematical theory of great beauty and power... We simply have to accept it."
"One could perhaps describe the situation by saying that God is a mathematician of a very high order, and He used very advanced mathematics in constructing the universe."
First cause argument for existence of God
The argument for the existence of God is popular in both philosophy and theology.
For instance, a cosmological argument for the existence of God believed that every cause must have a cause and there is no uncaused cause. So as long as there is earth, there must be something that created it. According to 100WordPhilosophy, this argument was made by St. Thomas Aquinas.
The steps of the first-cause argument are:
"Causes and motion exist.
"All causation or motion requires some prior cause or motion; things can’t happen nor move for no reason.
"But this chain of causation or motion cannot go back infinitely; this seems impossible.
"Therefore, there must be a first, uncaused cause, or first, unmoved mover.
"The most plausible example of an uncaused cause or unmoved mover would be God.
"Therefore, God exists."
Ontological argument for existence of God
St Anselm in his Ontological argument proving there is God relies on the observation of the existence of the world. Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy summarised the argument:
"It is a conceptual truth (or, so to speak, true by definition) that God is a being than which none greater can be imagined (that is, the greatest possible being that can be imagined).
"God exists as an idea in the mind.
"A being that exists as an idea in the mind and in reality is, other things being equal, greater than a being that exists only as an idea in the mind.
"Thus, if God exists only as an idea in the mind, then we can imagine something that is greater than God (that is, a greatest possible being that does exist).
"But we cannot imagine something that is greater than God (for it is a contradiction to suppose that we can imagine a being greater than the greatest possible being that can be imagined.)
"Therefore, God exists."
Another expert to test mathematical proof of God's existence
Shubham Sharma, a research scholar and expert in theoretical astrophysics and cosmology based in India, has commented on the claim that a mathematical formula could prove the existence of God. He has now taken up the task to test the same mathematical argument.
Sharma told Legit.ng:
“Okay, I will try and explore and examine the mathematical form for God's existence."
Legit.ng awaits his conclusions on whether mathematics can truly bridge the gap between science and spirituality.
Meanwhile, a Catholic priest, Reverend Father Oselumhense Anetor who is the priest in charge of St Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ahia and Udakpa, Ubiaja Esan South East LGA of Edo state noted that there is no need to prove that God exists.
He told Legit.ng:
"We do not need proof for God's existence. However, because human beings are naturally doubtful, many have come up with proof that God exists. The Catholic Theologian, St Thomas Aquinas, has one of the most famous proofs of God's existence. He presented five classical arguments for the existence of God."
Scientists share information about Asteroid 2024 YRA
In a related story, Legit.ng reported that an asteroid had been detected by scientists who are studying its possibility of colliding with Earth.
The asteroid is known as 2024 YR4, and it has a 2.2% chance of hitting our planet on December 22, 2032.
However, scientists at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) are still observing the asteroid.
