In the video, she showed the environment, including unique desert houses and some camels standing behind her.
Pelumi will drive through 15 countries before arriving in Nigeria. Her followers have showered her with praise, describing her as courageous.
She wrote on TikTok:
"We’re finally in the Sahara. I’m so excited and everything feels so surreal. Just thinking about when I decided to go on this journey. The doubts that set in, the obstacles. But here we are, few more countries and we’ll be in Lagos. I can’t wait to see you all."
In a comment sent to Legit.ng, Kunle Adeyanju who once rode a bike through the Sahara Desert, said the place is highly difficult to cross.
Kunle told Legit.ng:
"The Sahara is one of the most inhospitable environments on earth, it is tough and unforgiven. Though Pelumi is in a car, shielded from the direct impact of the strong desert wind, the scorching heat and fine grains of sand flying hard like a thousand needles trying to poke your skin. It is still a dangerous feat because the car needs to withstand the extreme temperatures, the scorching heat in the day and cold nights. Also, the dust could easily cloud the radiator of the car, so the simple practice is to dust off the radiator every morning. Also, she needs to keep are speed below 80kph in the heat of the Sahara to avoid destroying the car tyres, because road temperatures on the Sahara can sometimes hit about 50 degrees Celsius.
"On the Moroccan side of the Sahara, there are a few places to get life support services, like fuel, water, food etc. On the Mauritanian side, however, it is a totally different thing; all these support systems are practically non-existent. My advice here is, after crossing into Mauritania from Morocco, spend the night in Nouadhibou, though it’s like going so back about 78km in the opposite direction to Nouakchott. It is better because she will have the opportunity to stock up her supplies. The 500km stretch from Nouadhibou to Nouakchott is unforgiven, with practically no support services along the way, so she must be able to cross the 500km with the rations she has."
