"Move to Sweden For Free": Expert Gives Tips on How to Relocate Abroad to Study and Get Sweet Money

A Nigerian travel expert has said it is possible to relocate to Sweden as a master's student for free.

Waka Waka Doctor revealed on YouTube that there were several scholarship opportunities that took care of full tuition fees and travel expenses.

He said one of such scholarship opportunities in Sweden was the Scholarship for Global Professionals.

The Scholarship for Global Professionals is available to students from 41 countries, Nigeria inclusive.

He wrote on Twitter:

"You can move to Sweden for FREE. Full tuition fee coverage. Payment of SEK 12,000 to cover your living expenses throughout the study period. Insurance against illness and accident. A travel grant of SEK 15,000."

Information on the Sweden Institute's website reads:

"Do you want to contribute to the sustainable development of your home country and region? Are you looking for an international experience? The Swedish Institute awards academic scholarships for master’s studies to global professionals from 41 countries. Through the scholarship, the Swedish Institute (SI) aim to develop a network of future global leaders that will contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and drive the development of their home countries forward."

According to the website, the application for the 2025/2026 Scholarship for Global Professionals opens on February 12, 2024. Those interested can start preparing their documents.

Speaking on why Sweden is a good place to relocate and study, Waka Waka Doctor told Legit.ng that those with language proficiency are more likely to get jobs after school. He said learning the local language in the course of one's studies is important.

His words:

"The language makes it easier, but there are loads of Nigerians with jobs in Sweden, especially in Tech, Finance and accounting, that don’t require the language. As part of integrating into any society, learning the language is important. Most job adverts require language proficiency which is why locals get the jobs easily. 20-25% of Jobs don’t require language proficiency which means you don’t need the local language."

Man advises people relocating to Canada

In a related story, Legit.ng reported that a Nigerian man advised people who want to relocate to Canada to take their time and arrange themselves well before coming.

The man said it is possible to convert a Canadian visitor visa into a work visa, provided the person has skills.
