The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has warned Nigerians against paying agents to obtain passports.
In a post on Twitter, NIS emphasised that individuals can easily apply for and pay for their passports online without needing an intermediary.
The announcement is part of the agency's ongoing campaign to streamline the passport application process and reduce corruption.

How to apply for and collect a passport without an agent
According to the NIS, Nigerians who need international passports can visit passport.immigration.gov.ng to complete the application and payment process online.

It also noted that after application, anyone could track their passport status by visiting http://track.immigration.gov.ng.

Immigration speaks on passport application
In an exclusive interview with Legit.ng, former Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Amos Okpu, confirmed that a 32-page international passport would cost only N26,000
He explained that NIS remains one of the leading agencies that embraced online applications and payment processes long ago.
He said:
"People should make a conscious effort to plan their travels well in advance to avoid a last-minute rush, which may lead them to patronise unscrupulous individuals posing as agents."
UK releases list of firms ready to sponsor skilled Nigerian for visa
Meanwhile, in another report, the UK government released a list of licensed companies willing to support the relocation of skilled workers.
Some companies are in technology, commerce, and engineering, among others.
The option will aid Nigerians who want to relocate abroad but lack the necessary funds.
