Lagos Rice Mill To Generate 250,000 Jobs for Lagosians, Sanwo-Olu Reveals
- Governor Sanwo-Olu has revealed that thousands of Lagos residents will get decent jobs as a result of the just-commissioned Lagos rice mill
- According to the Lagos state governor, the rice mill is set to produce 2.5 million bags of 50kg rice per annum
- Specifically, Sanwo-Olu revealed that the mill will generate about 250,000 direct and indirect jobs

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, January 23, commissioned the Lagos Rice Mill which is located in the Imota area of the state.
According to the Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, with the commissioning, the rice mill will commence operation.
Buhari commissioned the project during his visit to the state and will also commission other projects by Sanwo-Olu's administration.
Sanwo-Olu who made this known on his Twitter handle wrote:

"Today, Africa's largest rice mill, the Lagos Rice Mill begins production as H.E President @MBuhari officially commissioned the project to the joy of our residents. The Lagos Rice Mill, Imota, a 2 x 16 Metric Tonnes per hour mill, standing on an area of 8.5 hectares of land.
More jobs for Lagosians
Going further, the governor declared that over 250,000 Lagosians will benefit from job opportunities directly and indirectly with the rice mill.
The governor added:
"With an annual paddy requirement of about 240,000 Metric Tonnes is set to produce 2.5 million bags of 50Kg rice per annum. The mill will generate about 250,000 direct and indirect jobs to Lagosians."
Photos as Buhari commissions Lekki deep seaport
In another report, President Buhari on Monday, January 23, commissioned the Lekki deep seaport during a visit to Lagos.
The president who was on a two-day working visit to the state was scheduled to commission the Lekki Deep Seaport, Lagos Rice Mill and the 18.75 kilometres Eleko-Epe rigid pavement six-lane expressway.
Buhari made his first stop at the seaport before proceeding to the Lagos Rice Mill in Imota, Ikorodu, where he commissioned the 32 metric tonnes per hour mill. The port has three terminals: the container terminal, the liquid terminal, and the dry bulk terminal.
