In a stunning development, a Nigerian, Ayo Owodunni has been elected as the first black city councillor in Kitchener, a city in the Candian province of Ontario.

According t reports, Owodunni contested against four other candidates in the municipal election for Ward 5 after the incumbent Kelly Galloway-Sealock said he was not seeking re-election, CBC reports.

He ran his campaign on three promises — speeding on local roads, keeping taxes low, and affordable housing.

“I am more aware than ever that our city is evolving rapidly, and the leadership needs to evolve to tackle urgent issues like road safety, cost of living, belonging, housing affordability, and climate change."

Meanwhile, currently in Nigeria, fuel is sold for N175 per litre because the federal government is paying billions of naira monthly to make it affordable.

This means consumers should be paying more to buy a litre of fuel for their cars or to power their generator sets in cases of electricity outages.

The government pays more than 50 percent of the true cost of petrol consumed by Nigerians at petrol stations. As an oil-producing country, Nigeria has enough oil but lacks functional refineries to refine the crude it produces.

Meanwhile, a short video has shown the moment a Nigerian father, @topsyde12, counted the remaining diapers they had left at home.

After making the count, he calculated how they would be shared between his newborn twins. When the man reasoned that the diapers might not last long, he held his head in his hand.

As soon as he saw a camera secretly filming him, he smiled. Many Nigerians who commented on his post said that God will provide for him. There were also many parents in his comment section who shared their struggle with keeping up with their babies' provisions.
