Another Sad Day in Nigeria As Gunmen Kidnap Plateau Village Head’s Wife, Kill Son

  • Armed men have attacked the Angwan Baraya community in the Pyem Chiefdom, Mangu local government area of Plateau state
  • The Community Head, Baba Yarima Jabil was injured, his son, Chamsan shot dead while his wife and one other woman were abducted
  • Meanwhile, the State Police Command was yet to confirm the development as the Police Public Relations Officer said he was yet to receive any report

In what can be described as another sad day in Nigeria, gunmen have attacked the Angwan Baraya community in the Pyem Chiefdom, Mangu local government area of Plateau state.

Punch Newspaper reports that at least two persons including Baba Yarima Jabi, the village head of Angwn Baraya were shot during the attack.

Vanguard Newspaper added that the village head was rushed to a nearby hospital in the council area, his son ,Chamsan, who was also shot by the gunmen during the attack died on the spot.

A resident of the village, Ilya Samson, who confirmed the attack in Jos was reported to have said:

“Our community in Pyam chiefdom, Mangu LGA, has once again been hit with another tragedy as heavily armed killer bandits last night attacked the residence of Elder statesman and leader of Angwan Baraya village, Jannaret Ward, Gindiri District, Baba Yarima Jabil.
“The gunmen opened a barrage of gunfire at his residence around midnight and shot the community leader."

Gunmen attack Imo community, kill seven community leaders

Legit.ng had earlier reported that gunmen killed no fewer than seven community leaders in Mmahu autonomous community in Ohaji/Egbema local government area of Imo state on Tuesday, February 8.

Charles Mgaraho, the president-general of the community, is one of the seven leaders killed by the unknown gunmen.

Panic as gunmen attack police checkpoint in southeast state

In another report, masked gunmen have reportedly attacked a police checkpoint on Thursday morning, in Enugu reportedly killing two officers on the sport.

The incident which happened at Gariki, MTD area in Enugu South Local Government Area of the state capital.

Confirming the attack, the Enugu state Police PRO, Daniel Ndukwe, told the news outlet that there was shooting but he cannot specifically state if there were police casualties,
