The Nigerian man, therefore, thanked his supervisor, Dr Cowan, who supported him greatly during his research. According to Olalekan, they sometimes worked from 3 am to 12:30 am the next day.
He also thanked others who have given him support throughout the course of his journey. Olalekan revealed he will even be needing more help as he goes into the second phase of his research.
In a conversation with Legit.ng, the agriculture expert said that though he got tons of awards in Nigeria, what he never got was an academic award.
On Nigeria's skyrocketing food prices, he said:
"This calls for a sense of urgency, the government needs to be INTENTIONAL about investment in the youths and farmers of our great country Nigeria to make agricultural not just interesting but also lucrative. I don’t see production as our problem, but processing, packaging, transportation, and linkage to market."
