Senate President Ahmad Lawan To Become Chief of Iyin Ekiti

In what will annoy some people from southwest, the Senate president, Sen. Ahmad Lawan, will be conferred with chieftaincy titles of Iyin-Ekiti, in Irepodun/Ifelodun local government area of Ekiti state, PM News reports.
Six other prominent Nigerians including former director general, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Maj.-Gen. Bamidele Olawumi and wife, an Israeli, Him Hille and wife, Mr Ayodeji Adeosun and Mrs Veronica Ndanusa will also bag titles.
This was disclosed in Iyin-Ekiti by the traditional ruler of Iyin-Ekiti, Oba Adeola Ajakaiye; the Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti.
He said the conferment of the chieftaincy titles was in recognition of the recipients’ contributions to the development of the community and the country at large, Gazette news outlet added.

Ekiti state governor appoints 24-year-old as special assistant
Meanwhile, Ekiti state governor, Kayode Fayemi announced the appointment of Tosin Durodola as his special assistant on digital communications.
The 24-year-old who hails from Igede-Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun LGA confirmed his appointment in a post shared on his Facebook page on Wednesday, August 11.
Until his appointment as an aide to Fayemi, Durodola was a Technical Assistant at the Bureau of Communications and Strategy, Governor’s Office, Ado-Ekiti.
He has a substantial record of research and policy development, and community outreach on broad range of governance, migration, conflict, and displacement-related issues.
He previously served at the digital media unit of the John Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation prior to the 2018 Ekiti State gubernatorial election.
Senate president reveals how APC can retain power beyond 2023, sends message to Youths
Recall that Legit.ng reported that Lawan joined vice president, Prof Yemi Osinbajo in challenging the All Progressives Congress (APC) youths to join in the hardwork of mobilizing young people and those in the grassroots.
He made the remark on Thursday, August 19, whilst receiving the APC National Progressives Youth Lobby group led by Barrister Ismaeel Ahmed, the National Youth Leader of the APC at the Senate building this afternoon.
In a statement made available to Legit.ng, the Senate president encouraged APC youths to sustain the momentum in their quest for affirmative action in mainstreaming more young people in government and in politics.
