Testimonial: I Thoroughly Enjoyed Studying at the University of Sussex

My name is Anu Kalejaiye, a graduate of International Financial Law from the University of Sussex, Brighton, England. I can attest that the University of Sussex is a great place to study and develop academic knowledge.

They are currently ranked 160th in the world by Times Higher Education rankings, their courses are uniquely designed to help you succeed in your studies, career, and the world. While I was there, I learnt about financial regulation and understood the workings of international financial law, regulation and governance worldwide.

As the best graduating student in my class, I can proudly say that I could not have achieved this great feat without the support I received from administrative staff, faculty, and members of the Sussex Nigerian Society. Thanks to this support system, I was able to navigate the campus, my interactions with peers and even city life.

For any Nigerian considering where to study International Law in the UK or anywhere else overseas, here are the top things I recommend you look out for:

● A program that focuses on leadership skills development. You want to be equipped with knowledge about Law and indispensable leadership skills for life after studies.

● A great school and law program with excellent rankings. Like I mentioned earlier, the University of Sussex is currently ranked 160th in the world by Times Higher Education rankings. In addition, Law at Sussex is top 20 in the UK and top 50 in the world for impact.

A handy guide to the UI portal for all University of Ibadan students!

● A good community for Nigerian students. This is very important because it can be quite challenging to adjust to new weather, lifestyle, food etc whilst also balancing that with a demanding course like Law. The University of Sussex has a fantastic Nigerian society. We call it a home away from home. They have a really great support system for Nigerian students and hold regular events with lots of Jollof!

● Universities that offer scholarships to Nigerian students. The University of Sussex offers a £3000 scholarship for Nigerian students.

● Schools with programs that allow you to engage in real-world issues and critical thinking. The University of Sussex really helped me with this, preparing me for life post studies.

Studying at Sussex can be rigorous if your goal is to graduate with the best grades, but the university is in a city that offers balance for students in the area of recreation and entertainment. Despite my tight schedule, I still made out time to visit the Brighton Pier and the beach. Those long walks on the beach were very invigorating. I also visited Churchill Square Shopping Centre frequently, the sheer number of humans and activities in that building amazed me each time.
