Governor Aminu Tambuwal Identifies PDP Chieftains Defecting to APC

Sokoto state - Amid the mass defection that hit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last few months, Governor Aminu Tambuwal has identified members of the opposition leaving.
The Sokoto state governor on Monday, July 26, said the chieftains joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are corrupt members of the party, The Nation reports.
Tambuwal, who was represented by his Taraba state counterpart, Darius Ishaku, made the disclosure during a meeting of PDP governors hosted by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state.
The chairman PDP Governors’ Forum speaking at the Bauchi Government House Banquet Hall, also alleged that the defectors left to avoid the probability of being prosecuted for corruption charges.
Governor Tambuwal berates APC
Tambuwal according to ThisDay had described the ruling APC as one without the requisite national spread to represent the interest of the country.
Speaking at the PDP-GF meeting in Ibadan, Oyo state, the northern governor declared that the APC is not a national party, adding that it does not have national spread.
APC reveals why PDP governors joined ruling party
Earlier, the APC berated PDP for criticising its members who defected to the ruling party. It reiterated that it is unthinkable for the opposition to expect its members to remain with it having seen its fast depleting fortune.
The party said this while reacting to complaints by the PDP that it is coercing its members to dump the party.

Meanwhile, Enyinaya Abaribe, the minority leader of the Senate, said he will never defect to the APC because he has nothing to gain there.
Abaribe said this while reacting to the spate of defection that hit the opposition party.
He further claimed that the APC was using federal might to intimidate PDP members to join the party.
