Updated: Death Toll in Kebbi Bandits Attack Rises to 88 as Police Give Fresh Update

Danko-Wasagu LGA, Kebbi state - The Kebbi state police command says 66 people were killed by armed bandits in the Danko-Wasagu local government area of Kebbi state.
According to Daily Trust, the spokesperson of the command, DSP Nafiu Abubakar, said the massacre took place on Thursday, June 3, in eight villages of the council.
Abubakar had earlier put the number of deaths at 66 but noted that the police were still counting the number of those killed in the tragic incident.
In an updated report by The Cable, the police spokesman was quoted to have said:
“Actually, not 66. It’s 88 now. We have gotten addition.”
He added that the command had already dispatched a detachment of police operatives to the troubled area.
His words:
“The killing took place in Koro, kimpi, Gaya, Dimi, Zutu, Rafin Gora and Iguenge villages, all in Danko/Wasagu LGA of Kebbi state.”
It was learnt that the majority of the people of the affected villages have escaped to the nearby town of Riba for safety, The Nation also reported.

Bandits Gathering in Kano Forest - Ganduje
Meanwhile, Abdullahi Ganduje, the governor of Kano, said on Thursday, June 3, that bandits have taken over the forests in the state and converted them to hideouts.
The governor, therefore, called for military intervention in the state, adding that the bandits were gathering in Falgore Forest and might be planning to carry out attacks.
Legit.ng gathered that Ganduje said this at a meeting with the service chiefs at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
