Banditry: Tension As PDP Governor Visits Police HQ, Asks Officers to Enforce Shoot-at-Sight Order
- Governor Matawalle of Zamfara has asked the security operatives in the state to shoot anybody carrying an AK-47 or other dangerous weapons in the state
- The order was given on Tuesday, June 1, in Gusua when he visited the state headquarters of the Nigeria police
- Matawalle noted that the order would go a long way in curbing the incessant killings and kidnappings across the state

Gusau, Zamfara - Apparently disturbed by the level of banditry and kidnapping in his state, Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara has asked the police to enforce the shoot-at-sight order issued by President Muhammadu Buhari to tackle the insecurity in the country.
Channels TV reports that the governor made the request on Tuesday, June 1, when he visited the state police command in Gusau.
Legit.ng gathered that Matawalle in a statement issued by his spokesman, Jamilu Magaji, said he told the police to shoot at any bandit or anybody seen with AK-47 in the state.
In a post on Twitter, the governor said only those approved by law or the security agencies are to carry guns and other sophisticated weapons, stressing that those found in unlawful possession of guns should be shot instantly.

The governor, however, said that his administration is fully in support of the policies and programmes of President Buhari, especially in his bid to ensure the security of the lives and property of citizens.
He, however, urged the operatives to sustain the magnitude so as to ensure the sustenance of peace and tranquillity in all parts of the state.

Governor Matawalle suspends two monarchs
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Governor Matawalle approved the suspension of the Emir of Dansadau, Hussaini Umar and the district head of Nasarawa Mailayi, Bello Wakkala, over alleged ties with bandits in the state.
It was reported that the governor's media aide, Zailani Bappa, said in a statement issued on Monday, May 31, that the suspension was with immediate effect.
The governor also directed the district head of Dansadau, Nasiru Muhammad S/Kudu, to oversee the affairs of the emirate.
