Benin City, Edo state - Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state has faulted the congratulatory messages sent to him by a former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole and Osagie Ize-Iyamu following his victory at the Supreme Court last.
The Supreme Court recently dismissed the certificate forgery case filed against the governor by the APC.
Obaseki in a statement on Tuesday, June 1, questioned the genuineness of the messages made by both politicians.
According to PM News, the governor during a victory march in Edo state on Tuesday, June 1, told his supporters that the messages by the APC members should have been made formally, rather than posting it on the internet.
He said:
“If you want to congratulate us, are you not supposed to put it in your letterhead and sign it? Is it through the internet you congratulate?”
He said the victory at the Supreme Court signaled the end to godfatherism in the state and freedom for Edo people.
Vanguard reported that the governor attributed his victory at the apex court to God’s intervention.

Obasake stated:
“This is by the grace of God: I will not say it is my own doing; it is God that has led us through all of these challenges. But I believe that what is more important is the meaning of this victory. For us, we must rededicate ourselves to the work, which we have started for Edo people.''
Meanwhile, the deputy governor of Edo state, Philip Shaibu, has got people talking on social media after a video of him emerged in which he could be seen doing the popular legwork dance.
This was in celebration of the victory his principal, Godwin Obaseki, had at the Supreme Court recently.
In the video that was posted on Instagram by @kingtundeednut, an elated Shaibu did the popular legwork dance to the amazement of his party members who also tried doing it.
