Tambuwal Commissions Medical Gas Plant in Akwa Ibom, Hails Gov Emmanuel

- A medical gas and vacuum plant has been built by the Akwa Ibom state government under the leadership of Mr. Udom Emmanuel

- The facility was commissioned by the Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal on Saturday, May 29

- Governor Tambuwal also used the opportunity to eulogise his Akwa Ibom counterpart, describing him as a performer

As part of activities to mark the 6th anniversary in office as the governor of Akwa Ibom state, Mr. Udom Emmanuel on Saturday, May 29, commissioned a medical gas and vacuum plant.

Legit.ng gathered that the facility is located at the Infectious Diseases Control Center, General Hospital, Ituk Mbang in Uruan local government area of the state.

The governor of Sokoto state, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal who officially performed the project inauguration described Governor Emmanuel as a visionary, resourceful, and purpose-driven leader.

Tambuwal who also doubles the chairman of the Peoples Governors Forum noted with delight that the governor's performance has earned him respect even among other governors in the country.

A statement sent to Legit.ng by the Akwa Ibom state government quoted him as saying:

“He has provided leadership, he is very resourceful to the Nigeria Governors' Forum and indeed the Federal Government of Nigeria.”

Governor Tambuwal also described the medical gas and vacuum plant as a significant project in the state, adding that it is an investment that Akwa Ibom people will ever live to cherish.

His words:

“No investment can be better than investing in health, no investment can be better than investment in human capital development, no investment can be better than investment in the future of youths in their employment and that of our women.

“All of these are what Governor Udom Emmanuel is doing in Akwa Ibom state, how can we not be proud of him.”

Speaking earlier, Governor Emmanuel restated that his vision in the health sector was driven by his passion to ensure that the people had access to quality health care delivery facilities.

He also announced that with the medical gas and vacuum plant installation, the isolation center could be converted to a critical care centre in the post-Covid era.

In a related development, Governor Emmanuel has announced that 1300 direct jobs and 3000 indirect employment opportunities will be available by September 2021 in Akwa Ibom state.

Governor Emmanuel made this known on Friday, May 21 while inspecting the installation of production lines at the factory adding that the project will also provide technology transfer from the foreign experts to Akwa Ibom people while boosting the economy in the state.

Recall that Governor Emmanuel recently set modalities to commence commercial production of tomato puree - the concentrate used for making tomato paste in Akwa Ibom state.

The commissioner for trade and investment, Barr. Ukpong Akpabio gave this hint during the graduation ceremony organised for 169 youths who completed training in vegetable enterprise development in the state recently.
