El-Rufai Reacts to Release of Greenfield University Students; Sends Powerful Message to Parents

Malam Nasir El-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state, has broken silence on the release of the Greenfield University students abducted by suspected bandits.

The students were released on Saturday afternoon, May 29, after a yet to be disclosed amount of money was paid as ransom barely a month after their abduction.

In a tweet on Saturday evening, Governor El-Rufai wished the families of the students a recovery from the trauma of the abduction.

The governor also sent condolence to the families of three students killed by the bandits.

El-Rufai said his government is working with the federal government and security agencies to facilitate the release of other abducted people.

"KDSG welcomes the release of the Greenfield students. It wishes the students and their families recovery from the trauma and reiterates its condolences to the families who lost children.
"KDSG is working with the FG and other states for military operations to secure our people," the tweet the Twitter handle @GovKaduna read.

Angry youths protest abduction

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that angry youths protesting the abduction of 15 persons by bandits on Monday, May 24 vandalized and burnt the Gauraka police station in Tafa local government area of Niger state.

15 people were abducted by bandits in the Gauraka community when bandits in their large number stormed the community.

The bandits were said to have moved from house to house to forcefully drag their victims out of their homes, a pregnant woman was said to be among the abductees.

The youths who were protesting over what they termed as the increasing spate of abductions in Suleja and Tafa local government areas took to the road blocking the Kaduna-Abuja expressway.
