Jay-Z Praises DMX, Recalls How Late Rapper Brought Crowds to Tears during Performance

Legendary hip hop musician Jay-Z has heaped praise on late rapper DMX. Speaking on The Shop series, Jay said no one matches DMX's stage presence.
Recounting an instance when they performed at the same show, the Young Forever rapper said he was performing after DMX.
Jay described feeling doubtful on whether he could outdo the performance by DMX.

The rap billionaire narrated:
“And he growls, and the arena goes crazy. Halfway through the show, he takes his shirt. And the whole crowd goes wild."
He further lauded how DMX took the crowd on an emotional rollercoaster as they shed tears moments after jumping with exhilaration.
“First, the guys are going crazy. Now the girls are going crazy. And then he gets to the end, and he starts a prayer. The whole arena is crying,” he said.
Snubbing the Grammys
Jay has always respected the Ruff Ryder rapper, who passed away on April 9, 2021.
According to Jay, despite his album Hard Knock Life scooping two Grammys in 1999, he snubbed the event to show support for DMX.
He explained that DMX had topped charts, and he found it disrespectful when the Recording Academy snubbed the late rapper.

Posthumous album
DMX’s posthumous album dubbed Exodus dropped on May 28, 2021.
Exodus, his eighth official album, features hip hop greats including Jay-Z, Nas, and Snoop Dogg.
Alicia Keya and Usher are also featured on the album.
