Breaking: Again, suspected gunmen raze another police station, high court in Imo

- Gunmen on Saturday, May 29, stormed Njaba local government and razed a police station in Imo state

- According to the report, the suspected bandits also raze Atta Magistrate and high court and vandalism property in the state

- The crown prince of the community, Remigiius Azike, reportedly said that the incident took place when the villagers were asleep

Some suspected gunmen have razed the Atta divisional police headquarters in the Njaba local government area of Imo state.

The Punch exclusively reports that the thugs equally razed the Atta Magistrate and high court and vandalized the community’s health centre.

Legit.ng gathered that newspaper noted that the development had caused serious panic in the area as the youths of the community, adding that the razing of the building took place between 1 and 2 am.

Sahara Reporters also reports that the invaders shot repeatedly for close to an hour before torching the government facilities in the community.

Remigiius Azike, the crown prince of the community, reportedly said that the incident took place when the villagers had gone to bed.

A former president-general of the community, John Agbaso, stated that the community was in pains.

He said that it was just one week ago that the house of the president-general of the community, Chijioke Duruonyeokwu, was set ablaze by unknown people with his wife killed.

Governor Hope Uzodinma must strengthen security architecture in Imo

Duruonyeokwu called on the government to come to their rescue, adding that insecurity was on the increase in the area.

He reportedly said:

“I was the one who built the police station and the magistrate court and mobilised youths under the auspices of Transformations Ambassadors of Atta Nwambieri to build the high court. I did this so that our people will have access to government facilities."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo state, vowed that his administration would crush anyone who attempts to cause mayhem or attack the people of the state again.

It was reported that Governor Uzodimma also opened up on the identities of those causing mayhem in the southeast state, claiming they are mostly not Igbo people but hired mercenaries.

Uzodinma reiterated that over 400 of those who attacked the state in the past have been arrested and undergoing trials in the courts.
