Nigeria in Safe Hands Despite Security Challenges, Lai Mohammed Says

Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture, has assured Nigerians that in spite of the current security challenges, the country is in safe hands.
Channels TV reports that the minister gave the assurance while receiving the Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti, Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaiye, on a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja on Thursday, May 27.
Legit.ng gathered that he urged Nigerians not to succumb to the apocalyptic or doomsday predictions about the country because such predictions won’t come to pass.
Stop making comments that can put Nigeria on fire
The minister also appealed to leaders at all levels to give the people a message of hope instead of making comments that can only aggravate tension.
He stressed the critical role of traditional rulers in the maintenance of peace and security, saying they cannot and must not be ignored as the nation seeks to restore peace and security across the country.
The Punch also reports that he appealed to Oba Ajakaiye to work with his fellow traditional rulers, as well as the government of Ekiti state, to ensure peace and security.
Tourism is a vehicle for unity, peace and economy booster
In his speech, the traditional ruler asked Mohammed to help put the tourist sites in the town on the national and global map.
The monarch also said that Iyin-Ekiti is blessed with numerous tourist attractions that have the potentials to bring the community to the national and global limelight and create jobs for its youths.
He highlighted the need for the federal government to leverage on the tourism industry in its drive to diversify the economy away from oil.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Mohammed discouraged the calls for secession by some groups in the country.
It was reported that the minister made the statement on Thursday, May 20, during his speech at the opening ceremony of the 2021 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) held in Bauchi state.
Mohammed, who joined the programme virtually, urged Nigerians not to allow current challenges jeopardise the country’s unity.
