History Made as Nigerian-Made Helicopter Enters Assessment Stage

The ministry of aviation has announced that the production of the made-in-Nigeria helicopter has entered an assessment stage.

Daily Trust reports that officers from the ministry and its agencies went for an on-site assessment and evaluation at the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) Solar Energy Limited.

It was gathered that the NASENI hanger and helipad are located in Abuja.

As part of measures to ensure the smooth inauguration of the project, the agency is ready to accept suggestions, support from the aviation ministry that would lead to the successful completion within the time frame.

Chinyere Ekwuazi, the assistant chief information officer, NASENI in a statement issued in Abuja revealed that the target of the federal government is to inaugurate the helicopter before the end of the current administration, The Punch added.

According to Engr. Emmanuel Ajani, the deputy director engineering Infrastructure, NASENI collaborated with a helicopter company to develop the helicopter and has trained its engineers for the take-off of the project in Nigeria.

Ajani, went on to note that President Muhammadu Buhari approved the project on January 26, 2021, and directed that the helicopter be completed before the end of his tenure.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the federal government said there are ongoing plans to make at least 30% of all the motors and vehicles in the country electric ones by 2025.

Jelani Aliyu, the director-general of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), expressed this enthusiasm on Friday, February 5.

In a related development, the Nigerian government has announced that the new national carrier is expected to commence operation by the first quarter of 2022.

The minister of aviation, Hadi Sirika, made the announcement on Wednesday, May 19, during a chat with journalists in Abuja.

The minister pointed that the carrier will be private sector-run with possibly cheaper rates.
