APC Must Honour North-South Power Shift Deal, Mustapha Insists

- The APC has been urged to honour the agreement to allow power shift to the southwest

- The call was made by Mohammed Bello Mustapha, a former chairmanship aspirant of the APC

- According to him, it is the turn of the south to produce the next president

A message has been sent to the ruling All Progressives Congress. The message is simple - Honour your agreement and let power go back to the south in 2023.

This is the message from the chairmanship aspirant of the party, Mohammed Bello Mustapha, The Nation reports.

According to him, it was agreed at the founding of the APC that power would rotate between the north and the south.

He noted that it is the south’s turn to produce the president in 2023 after the two-term tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said:

“There was an understanding, which all of us are very much aware of when our party came on board in 2013/2014, that power should rotate between the North and the South. By power, I mean the Presidency and the leadership of the party.
“The presidency should return to the south, and the national chairmanship of the party should go to the north."

Legit.ng had also reported that in the opinion of Goodluck Jonathan, political might is temporary and should not be used to oppress the masses who brought an office holder to power.

Jonathan on Sunday, May 16, said this is the mindset he brought into politics because he understands that it is only a temporary advantage given by God.

The famous Nigerian politician said some decisions he took when he ruled the affairs of the nations were based on the mindset of service.

In another report, young Nigerians on the platform of Youths Earnestly Demand For Goodluck E.Jonathan (YED4GEJ 2023) had called on Jonathan to contest for the presidency.

YED4GEJ 2023 described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)'s presidential candidate in the 2015 election as a true democrat, a nation builder, and a goal-oriented leader with integrity.

It further asserted:

“He has proven that he can sacrifice anything to ensure the unity, peace and development of our great nation Nigeria."
