Governor Wike Brags About What Will Happen to PDP if he Leaves

Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, on Monday, May 24, said that if he leaves the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the political party will suffer.

Daily Trust reports that Wike made the remark less than a week after Governor Ben Ayade dumped the opposition for the All Progressives Congress.

The governor during a briefing at the Government House, in Port Harcourt, bragged about what the opposition party will experience should he make a decision to leave.

While describing himself as an asset to the PDP, Wike took a shot at some of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) members.

He described them as tax collectors and maintained that he stood by his words.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Rivers state governor said he would resign from office if Rotimi Amaechi can mention any federal project he has attracted to Rivers since 2015 when he (Amaechi) became the minister of transportation.

The governor made the statement on Saturday, May 22, at a rally in Port Harcourt, when he welcomed some chieftains the APC who defected to the PDP.

Wike in a statement issued through his spokesperson, Kelvin Ebiri, accused Amaechi of embezzling millions of dollars from the sales of the state aircraft and power stations when he was a governor.

In a related development, Wike, on Saturday, May 15, hinted on the day of his death. The governor said no one can kill him before his time while he continues to do what is right in the interest of his people.

Wike, who spoke in reaction to agitation against the recent ban on open grazing by southern governors, said he will die on the day God says his end has come.

The governor went on to state that he and his colleagues are not second-class citizens of Nigeria and as such, have the right to partake in current national affairs.
