Bandits kill Over 20 in Fresh Attack on 5 Northern Communities

- Armed bandits in Zamfara state have continued to cause havoc in communities

- Five villages in two local government areas of the state have been ransacked by the suspects

- Reports say over twenty villagers were killed and several injured in the latest attack

Armed bandits have struck once again, killing no fewer than 20 people in Zurmi and Kaura Namoda local government areas of Zamfara state.

Channels TV, citing eyewitnesses, confirmed that the suspects attacked five communities, leaving many others injured in an interview on Sunday, May 23.

According to residents of the affected communities, the bandits on Saturday afternoon, May 22, invaded the communities in large numbers and started shooting sporadically, killing innocent residents.

One of the witnesses, Umar Abubakar narrating the incident, said five people were killed in Gabaken and Torawa respectively.

Abubakar also said in his village, Riwoji, four died while seven people, including his father’s younger brother, were injured.

He added that the bandits attacked a village called Rigiya where they killed one and four in Donroyi.

The witness explained that those who sustained injuries were taken to the general hospitals where two were later confirmed dead.

In another report by TVC News, Saulawa community of Zurmi local government area was invaded by armed gangs who operated unchallenged.

No fewer than 11 innocent people were killed when heavily armed bandits invaded their community. They carted away livestocks, valuable properties and set houses ablaze.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that seven people were killed by bandits in an attack on Yangalu, Magama local government area of Niger state.

According to the report, bandits in large numbers on motorcycles invaded the community and shot sporadically to scare people away.

Sufiyanu Yahaya, the chairman of Magama local government council, commiserated with the people during his visit to Yangalu in the wake of the attack.

In a related development, suspected kidnappers abducted 13 passengers along Shafa-Abakpa -Umaisha road in Toto local government area of Nasarawa state.

The kidnappers killed the driver of the vehicle identified as Adamu Usman. The deceased died while being treated at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, on Tuesday night, May 18.

Ibrahim Saidu, another driver, who narrowly escaped the attack, said the incident happened around 5 pm.
