Insecurity: We’re on Top of the Situation in Imo, Says Hope Uzodimma

Imo governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has assured residents that his government is on top of the security situation in the state.
The governor made this assertion on Friday, May 21 when the Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Dr. SCK. Uche and his team paid him a visit at Government House, Owerri.
Governor Uzodimma also accused opposition politicians in the state of sponsoring fake news via social media to cause chaos in Imo.

He disclosed that the essence of the social media scaremongering attack and propaganda was to blackmail and cause artificial unrest in the state after unsuccessful attempts attacking residents.
His words:
“That day will never come when I will seat here and subject to any blackmail or propaganda and endanger the lives of my people, watch innocent people women, and children killed, that day will never come.”
The governor also assured that the security agencies are on top of their game in securing the lives and properties of the people and are here to enforce peace.
He added:
“The UN calls for peace and also enforces peace and which is what the security agencies are doing in Imo state.”
The governor stated that one of the core duties of the government is to protect lives and properties by arresting unlawful arms carrier killing and causing unrest in the state.
Recall that Governor Uzodimma recently signed two executive bills on security and land matters into law, as passed by the Imo state House of Assembly.
The first was a bill for a law to establish the Imo Security Organisation to assist in maintaining law and order in the state and related matters therein.
The second bill established the Imo state land administration and geographic information service for the purposes of regulating land administration in the state and other related matters therein.
Recently, Governor Uzodimma assured residents of Imo that their safety is guaranteed despite the pocket of attacks witnessed in the state in recent times.
The governor made the declaration on Wednesday, May 5 when he presented vehicles and gadgets to security agencies in the state.
