The commissioner claimed that Ikpeazu's planned defection was prompted by his ill-treatment from some PDP politicians in Abia state.
Similarly, a group affiliated with the APC also reiterated the claims of Ikpeazu’s planned defection on its Twitter handle.
However, Ikpeazu has not confirmed the report of his alleged moves to defect.
Meanwhile, the governor of Taraba state, Darius Ishaku, has reacted following the defection of Governor Ben Ayade from the PDP to the APC.
Leadership reported that Ishaku described the Cross River governor's move as embarrassing and shocking to the opposition party.
He made this known on Thursday, May 20, after meeting with the president's chief of staff, Ibrahim Gambari, at the State House, Abuja, The Cable reported.
In another report, Ben Ayade, the governor of Cross River state, has said he appointed 38,000 political aides to tackle poverty in the state.
The governor who on Thursday, May 20, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) said the appointment is to afford him the “emotional and social temperature” to discharge his duties.
Making reference to the constitution, Governor Ayade said the primary purpose of government is the welfare and security of the people.
