The former Imo state governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, has dismissed claims by his successor, Hope Uzodinma, that he refused to partake in the membership registration exercise of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement released by his media adviser, Sam Onwuemeodo, Okorocha described the claims as laughable, The Nation reports.
The former governor said the registration exercise didn’t take place anywhere in the southeast state as he challenged Uzodinma to show proof.
According to Okorocha, the exercise took place at the Government House in Owerri where fictitious names were generated by appointees of the Imo governor.
Part of the statement read:
“We challenge the governor to tell the public how the exercise was carried out in Imo."
Uzodinma had earlier told and an APC committee that his predecessor refused to be registered as a member of the party in the state.
Reacting to the statement, the former Imo governor said without him (Okorocha) and Senator Ifeanyi Araraume there would be no talk of the APC in the southeast state, Vanguard reports.

He further accused Uzodinma of side-lining all those who made the ruling party thick in the state, adding that APC does not stand any chance of winning a single ward in the state under Uzodinma’s leadership.
Okorocha arrested
Since the Imo state governor took over power, he and his predecessor have been at loggerheads and have not been able to work things out.
Uzodinma got him arrested some time in February after he dared him and reopened the Royal Palm Estate which was sealed by the state government.
The Imo state government had sealed a property belonging to Okorocha's wife on the ground that it was built against the lawful master plan of the state.
