Breaking: Explosion Again Rocks Abeokuta Hours After Obasanjo Library’s Incident, Injures 2

- Two persons have reportedly died in a gas explosion that occurred in Abeokuta

- A similar incident had on Thursday, May 20, happened at Obasanjo Presidential Library

- The officials of the state government confirmed the incident on Friday, May 21

Barely 24 hours after a gas explosion happened within the premises of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, another incident occurred at the premises of the CSCC construction yard, at the Onikoko area of the state.

Nigerian Tribune reports that two people were seriously affected in the explosion and they were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Legit.ng gathered that a cylinder filled with gas exploded when it was not in use.

Sahara Reporters also reports that the burst cylinder affected many buildings along the Onikoko-Adigbe axis, vehicles and a teacher in a classroom at St. Louis College, Abeokuta.

It further stated that the state commissioner for special duties, Femi Ogunbanwo, the permanent secretary in the ministry, and Kehinde Onasanya have paid an on-the-spot assessment of the scene of the incident.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Ogun state commissioner of police, Edward Ajogun, dismissed the bomb blast claim following the explosion at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.

It was reported that Ajogun while conducting a probe panel around the scene of the incident that left one technical vendor dead denied reports that the explosion was connected to a bomb.

The commissioner said it was just a gas explosion, adding that they are trying to ascertain if it was a human error or technical fault in the cylinders.

He further explained that the governor of the state has ordered an investigation into the incidences of frequent gas explosions.

In a related report, a gas explosion that rocked the Amuwo-Odofin local government area of Lagos state on Tuesday, April 13, left many persons injured.

The incident which took place at Iyasoko street Agboju, Amuwo-Odofin by 7 pm was confirmed by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

The governor, who also visited the scene of the incident and the hospital where the injured were receiving treatment, confirmed that four persons died and no fewer than 11 admitted to the hospital with various degrees of burns.

He described the fire disaster as an unfortunate incident and announced that the state government would take responsibility for the bill to give the victims medical treatment.
