Open Grazing: Remember what you Told Buhari 3 Years ago, PMB's Aide Slams Governors

Nigerian governors have been reminded of the fact that the federal government's decisive and strategic efforts to end herdsmen/farmers' clash were rejected three years ago.
According to Lauretta Onochie, a presidential media aide, the government back in 2018 proposed to create 94 ranches across 10 states with the sum of N179 billion.
In a tweet on Wednesday, May 12, Onochie recalled that the move by the Buhari-led administration at the time was aimed at ending open grazing which has led to a lot of crises, especially in the south.

However, for undisclosed reasons, the plan was rejected by many governors who, as Onochie put it, are now banning open grazing without making provisions for ranches.
She wonders what the state governors really want as a solution to the menace which has claimed the lives of many Nigerians.
Her words:
"Three years ago, the federal government proposed 94 ranches in 10 states for ₦179bn, in a bid to stop open grazing.
"There was a resounding "No! No!!" from the vocal few, led by certain governors.
"Today, we are banning open grazing without ranches. We now want ranches. What's going on?
Earlier, during a crucial meeting in Asaba, Delta state capital on Tuesday, May 11, the forum of southern governors agreed to ban open grazing in the region.
This critical decision was announced by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, the chairman of the forum, on behalf of his counterparts.
Akeredolu said the resolution is part of the governors' efforts to tackle the menace of insecurity that emanates from the unchecked activities of herdsmen.

Details of the meeting were released in a communique tweeted by the media group of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
