Terrorists to Attack Yoruba Land in the Next Few Days, Akintoye Alleges

In a letter to state governors in the southwest, Prof. Banji Akintoye has alleged that the entire region has already been surrounded by terrorists.
Akintoye, who is the leader of Ilana Omo Oodua, the umbrella body for Yoruba self-determination groups said it is necessary for the governors to do something to safeguard the lives of properties of the people.
According to him, the terrorists were ready to strike any moment from now.
This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by his media aide, Mr Maxwell Adeleye, Punch Newspaper reports.
Maxwell consequently confirmed the statement when he spoke to Legit.ng.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, raised concerns over the deteriorating security situation in the country.
The monarch according to a statement sent to Legit.ng, stated that bandit and kidnappers now have a monopoly of violence.
Oba Adeyemi, who disclosed this in Lagos during the 51st birthday celebration of Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba Land, Iba Gani Adams, noted that that monopoly of violence supposed to be concentrated in government but regrettably, that was not the case.
Also, Legit.ng reported that prominent Yoruba leaders have declared that the attacks on southwest people by Fulani herdsmen are a form of terrorism.
They agreed that the frequent herdsmen attacks against the people are not farmers-herders’ clash as being claimed in some quarters.
The leaders disclosed this in Ibadan, Oyo state when they unveiled the South-West Security Stakeholders’ Group to complement government law enforcement units on Wednesday, March 17.
In another report, prominent Yoruba leaders have declared that the attacks on southwest people by Fulani herdsmen are a form of terrorism.
They agreed that the frequent herdsmen attacks against the people are not farmers-herders’ clash as being claimed in some quarters, Punch reports.
